Chapter 4: Statuses and Roles - Page 116-117

Status - A potion in a social hierarchy that comes with a set of expectations. (Examples: President, Mom, Teacher, ect)

Spiderman is a very unique superhero. He was neither born with nor created his super powers. So you can never really classify him as a ascribed, embodied, or achieved status. Ascribed is when you are born with something (race or Gender). Embodied is when it is located in your physical self (beauty). Achieved is when you have earned something (hobby or skill). How he became a Spiderman was actually by accident. He was on a field trip when he was bitten by a radio active spider. When he found out about his new powers he wasn't quiet sure what to do, in fact he was actually pretty scared. It was when his Uncle Ben was murdered that he knew what he must do. He knew it was his duty to keep New York safe from harm. While trying to keep his identity safe from his family and enemies because like any villain, you would want to cause pain to the superhero any way possible. Spiderman doesn't have a very cocky attitude, he is just very confident in my opinion.
